Field Trips
To enhance the instructional program at Royall, field trips are planned during the school year. Before your child can go on a field trip, we must have a permission form signed by his/her parent. If you are asked to drive students on a field trip, we must have a current copy of your drivers’ license and insurance card on file in the office prior to your departure. Parent chaperones are also required to complete a background check at:

Homework
Royall teachers will assign homework if and when they believe it is needed to provide practice or enrichment. Students will be responsible for writing down homework assignments and for completing their assignments neatly, accurately, and on time. Homework is to be of the same quality as class work. Work that does not reflect a student’s best effort will be returned to be done over.
Parents are asked to keep in mind that homework is designed to be completed by students. Feel free to review completed assignments for neatness and accuracy, but resist the temptation to assume the responsibility for the completion of your child’s homework. We will not ask your child to do something that we do not feel he/she is capable of doing! If your child repeatedly has difficulty competing homework assignments, please notify his/her teacher.

Buses
Students who are bus riders are given a bus assignment designated by a color. Students are to ride their assigned bus and only that bus to and from school. No changes in buses may be made without a written request from a parent and prior approval from the district transportation department (843-673-5796).
Riding the bus is a privilege extended to students and is contingent on their good behavior. To insure a safe environment on each bus, the school fully supports the driver in establishing and enforcing safe bus riding habits. Any student who violates these safety standards will be suspended from the bus.
School Hours
Students should arrive at school no earlier than 7:00 a.m. and no later than 7:45 a.m. each day. Adult supervision will begin at 7:00 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 7:45 a.m. Students arriving after 7:45 a.m. are considered late and are required to obtain a tardy slip to be admitted to class. Car riders should be dropped off in the car line. Students are not allowed to be dropped off in unauthorized areas to walk. All students are dismissed at 2:15 p.m. each day. All car riders must be picked up at the front of the building. Students are not allowed to walk around the corner to meet their cars. All students must be picked up no later than 2:30 p.m. each day.
Signing Your Child Out
Parents are asked to schedule your child’s doctor and dental appointments after school hours. If this is not possible, please send a note to your child’s teacher stating the time that you will pick him/her up. In most cases, this will allow the teacher to have your child prepared when he/she is called from the office.
Transportation Changes
Please make every effort to settle after-school arrangements and transportation concerns before your child comes to school. If changes must be made, please send a note to school with your child. Please do NOT use email to change a child’s transportation. If changes are necessary during the school day, please contact the office prior to 1:30 p.m. If no notification is received, your child will follow his/her regular procedure for getting home. Note: We have the largest number of confused children on rainy days. Please establish “rainy day procedures” and make sure your child understands them.
